Solar Victoria Rebates and Geelong Solar Performance

Solar Victoria's Solar Homes rebate significantly reduces the upfront cost of solar for eligible Geelong households, particularly important in a city where many households are on modest incomes. Geelong receives approximately 3.8-4.4 peak sun hours per day, similar to Melbourne. A 10kW system in Geelong provides better year-round production than a 6.6kW system given Victoria's variable weather. Geelong households with electric vehicle charging, heat pump hot water, or high air conditioning loads benefit most from larger solar systems.
